Dangerous use of quad bikes – Benson |

Hello Resident
We have received reports of quad bikes being ridden on roads around Benson and Roke during the hours of darkness. The quad bikes have reportedly been ridden by youths, with no visible lights or registration plates, and concerns have been raised about the manner in which they are being ridden, particularly on roads where vehicles may be travelling at higher speeds. This behaviour is extremely dangerous. An unlit quad bike can be very difficult for other motorists to see in the dark, significantly increasing the risk of a serious collision.
Quad bikes and the law Quad bikes are not automatically legal to use on public roads. To be used legally on the road, a quad bike generally needs to: be ridden by someone who holds the appropriate driving licence.
Please help us keep our roads safe. If you see quad bikes being ridden illegally or dangerously, please report the details to Thames Valley Police. Information such as the location, direction of travel, description of the rider and quad bike, and the time of the sighting can be particularly useful. If the incident is happening at the time and there is an immediate danger to other road users, call 999. Otherwise, please report the information through the usual Thames Valley Police reporting channels. Please do not put yourself at risk or attempt to stop or follow the riders.
Many Thanks
